Located 45 miles east of Omaha, Neb., in rural Iowa, the Creighton University Retreat Center is situated on 154 wooded acres on the Nishnabotna River. Retreatants immerse themselves in a quiet, prayerful environment filled with wildlife, song birds, hiking trails, three prayer gardens and a glorious night sky. The center’s mission is to support and foster an active prayer life and a deeper conversion and relationship with Jesus Christ.
Open year-round, the retreat center offers individual eight-day and 30-day directed retreats based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola. The center also welcomes individuals and groups for their own private retreats and presents a variety of additional preached retreats and other programs.
The comfortable accommodations boast excellent meeting and conference rooms, private direction rooms, overnight facilities, a dining hall and a chapel where Mass is celebrated daily. Retreatants have the option of cooking meals for themselves, but they may prefer eating in the dining room, as the center’s food is one of the reasons groups come back year after year.
As a department of Creighton University, the Creighton University Retreat Center serves Creighton students, faculty, staff and alumni. The center also welcomes all others seeking a place of rest or retreat, including religious, parishes, school groups, organizations and private individuals. For those looking for a retreat close to Omaha or Des Moines, few places are as beautiful, peaceful and accommodating.
