Ignatian Resources for Lent 2019

March 6, 2019 — Today, Ash Wednesday, marks the beginning of Lent, and the Ignatian family has a wide array of resources for prayer and reflection to guide you through the next 40 days. Bookmark this page as we will continue to update it as resources become available.

JesuitPrayer.org, produced by the Midwest Province and available as iOS and Android smartphone apps, will offer a total of nine videos throughout Lent, along with a daily Ignatian prayer and an Ignatian reflection written by Jesuits and lay collaborators.

Read a new prayer for Lent from the Jesuits’ Central and Southern Province by Colten Biro, SJ, printable in English and Spanish.

The Ignatian Solidarity Network is hosting a daily reflection series called Broken, with free Ignatian-inspired Lenten reflections delivered to your inbox. Featured contributors include: Sr. Simone Campbell, S.S.S., executive director of NETWORK; Bishop Mark Seitz, Bishop of El Paso; Joan Rosenhauer, executive director of Jesuit Refugee Service/USA; and many more.

Jesuit Refugee Service/USA has suggested 40 prayer intentions for the next 40 days, with a printable PDF.

America Magazine has collected its favorite articles on Lent as part of a “A Jesuit guide to Lent," a resource for reflection over the season.

Loyola Press once again presents Living Lent Daily, an email series that delivers reflections based on the Scriptures of Lent.


The Inter-religious Working Group on Extractive Industries has created a guided examination for your relationship with God’s creation and your choices as a consumer, which is also available in Spanish.

The St. Francis Xavier Environment Ministry at the Church of St. Francis Xavier in New York City invites everyone to grow closer to creation with daily suggestions on a Lenten calendar.

Santa Clara University’s Jesuit School of Theology invites you to participate in A Heart Renewed, an online retreat written by members of the JST community — students, faculty and alumni. Subscribers will receive an email each morning containing a reflection and the listing of sacred texts from Scripture for each day of Lent.


The College of the Holy Cross offers “Return to Me: Lenten Reflections from Holy Cross,” with daily emails as well as a booklet of reflections in a downloadable PDF

Georgetown University’s Lent Daily Devotional offers brief reflections and prayers written by students, faculty, staff and alumni sent out by email each morning of Lent.
