Fr. Michael G. Morrison, SJ
Mike was a respected administrator and a familiar figure to thousands of Creighton students who remember him occupying his favorite bench on campus. He served on numerous boards and was a province consultor for many years. All his life he was a voracious reader. May the good Lord welcome him to the fullness of life in his presence.

As president of Creighton University, Fr. Mike Morrison, S. J., was committed to several key principles. They were simple but profound, just like Mike Morrison himself. First, administration, though dull and abstract at times, is all about serving students. The point is to make a positive difference in their lives. Second, the Jesuit and Catholic mission of Creighton is at the heart of every effort and decision. This mission is the institution’s central purpose yet all who wish to be part of it are welcome. Third, the quality of the academic core of the University—faculty, programs, endowed chairs—makes all the difference between a top higher education institution and all the others. This quality requires constant investment. Finally, there is no institution and no mission in service of students and academic quality if the University’s finances are not in order and kept in order. For me and for so many others during his years leading Creighton University, Fr. Mike was a gift and an inspiration. Thank you, Fr. Morrison. My prayers for you and for all your Jesuit brothers. – Charles J. Dougherty

I was pleased to know Fr. Mike since 1979 when I came to teach at Creighton. He married my husband and me in 1982, and in 1987 he signed my law school diploma. We kept in touch for several years. Though our contact eventually diminished, I have always had a special fondness for him. I was deeply saddened to hear of his passing. He was a special gift to those of us who knew him. – Mary Buckley

Father Mike was a good friend of my father's and he would sometimes join us on family outings when I was a kid. Sorry to hear of his passing. – Mark Fulwiler
